Illustration 1: The Seven Technologies that are Transversal across the Seven Stations of Life

Succeeding from the Industrial eras of Locomotion, Automotive, Telecommunications and Internet Commerce, the New Era will undoubtedly be a Digital one disrupting life assembled by all these previous generations. The seven technologies with AI / ML at the core including Nanotech, Biotech, 3D / 4D Printing, Robotics, Enmeshed Networks and Pervasive Computing will transform life that resembles nothing like it is today or anything in the past. How soon this era comes into being is dependent on how quickly humans can prepare to bring it into their lives or when Big Businesses will force fit it like usual into the lives of the people and continue the monopoly on life.

The Digital Perspective

Illustration 2: Digital is not Information Technology. It needs to operate to a completely new Paradigm

Digital is radically different from Information Technology and can be distinguished by the three S’:

Smart

Unlike the Information Technology, Digital will be more Human than ever, connecting the creation to consumption complementing movement of goods and services with data. The Human — Machine / Digital Technology Interaction will be a Seamless Unification.

Sensitive

Technologies will not just bePoint Applications but will be transversal; addressing all the seven stations of life mutually inclusively with Personalization and Preferntiation of People Pursuing Excellence and accomplishing their Aspirations that scales Customer, Industry and Life Ecosystems.

Serendipitous

Every transaction will be an “aha” moment. Where technology will be device, channel and medium independent enabled by Conversational and Cognitive Computing; bringing Privacy and Security across the Physical and Virtual.

Illustration 3: The Components of the Future of Digital Architecture

Digital Architecture

The Digital Architecture will have to be led by a Role Based Digital Identity which Profiles, Personalizes and Preferentiates to the Aspirations of Individuals, Industries & Institutions; Connecting, Curating, Contextualizing and setting them up for Collaboration in an Open, Private and Secure environment with Data Autonomy.

The Humanizing aspect of Technology will break the barriers of Access with the only limiting factor being the inability of humans to immersively participate. This is an era when learning is more critical than ever, due to the increased emphasis on technology and the need to adapt and collaborate with it to deliver outcomes that are ethical, economic and ergonomic at the same time.

Science Leading Technology

Science needs Source Data. Digital Technology makes it possible to source and Compute Data in real time through Devises, IOT, Wearables, Scanners & Sensors that is now available in every sphere of life.

The significance of data being computed through all the four forms including Audio, Video, Graphics and Text is the promise that Cognitive Computing relies on to not just Automate but also Orchestrate data to Personalized Intelligence. And therefore, should we turn the tide from mere consumption to creation, the way in which this Personalization works will be significant in producing Intellectual Property (IP) that democratizes Innovation.

The overemphasis on Engineering in the Industrial Era will need to shift to a focused Data Science that shaped the Creation of the New. Because everything from Engagement to Experience to Learning can be Glocal (Globally Local) in real time; bringing together expertise to interpreting data and guiding it through the Process of Design Thinking to create New Meanings that lends itself to a higher Quality of Life with a better understanding of our cosmos.

It would be a terrible waste of opportunity to just keep using such promise for mundane commercialism. The second marker becomes a significant foil to the first one that is a New World Order and the next one that awaits a willing new demography that looks at life very differently from its previous generations.
